hashtag confessions

Happy Wednesday, people. Let's get right to it and start confessing things with Kathy and her blog....because why not share my embarrassing moments and quirk? They happen often and they are awkward.

I confess: After last week's yoga sesh I started getting deep into the world of instagram hashtags. First it was just #yoga and then I came across the hashtag #nakedyoga. I may or may not have looked. It was what you would expect... .a combo of pretty yoga girls doing poses with little to zero clothing on, as well as fat, hairy men attempting. Browse at your own risk.

::Speaking of hashtags... I confess: There is one for the World Cup called #WorldCupMyBalls. I died and then might have used it.

::I confess: I get irrationally upset over that stupid Sprint Framily commercial with Kevin Durant...not because it is stupid and Kevin Durant can fly in it -but because the kid has a horrible southern-ish accent and the mom doesn't. Never mind the fact that the other commercials have a talking hamster and what not....The commercial is not real life because of the accents. Also, how are they using the word Framily and getting away with it on National TV for their ads? Get it together, Sprint. You're the worst.

::Lastly, I confess: I am starting golf lessons tonight and I am nervous. I dislike doing things in front of people if I am not great at them. It's not that I am horrible at golf, I just tend to swing too hard sometimes and miss the ball entirely. That's not embarrassing or anything... I'll let you know how it goes.

Vodka and Soda
Cheers!

Date With Myself!

Saturday Market is my favsies

So this weekend both Brad and the Roomie were out of town, so I decided I was going to date myself and I have to say it was quite enjoyable.  I hit up the driving range, checked out Saturday Market and got a great trail run in.  I even attended The Avett Brothers' concert on my own (more on that later this week).

Here are a few pics I snapped while at Saturday Market.  Now, originally I thought this was going to be a great place to get some cool pictures, but once I was there, I realized I was a little intimidated.  I didn't want to be that girl with her camera in the way of people actually trying to buy things, not to mention some of the booth owners are a little picky and even have signs that say no photography.  In the end I decided to stick to out of the way items.

What up, Fountain?

Totally wish it was acceptable to wear these at my age.

Decided to hit up Pittock Mansion before I headed out on a trail run, where I then proceeded to roll both my ankles... One of which was bad enough that I am still having to ice it a day and a half later.

Almost got stung too.  The things I do for a good photograph.

It was definitely nice to get some me time this weekend.   What does everyone else do for their me time?!

Cheers to dating yourself!

Weekend Roundup

Ok, I this post is coming a little late for it being a weekend recap, but every time I sit down to write it I may or may not be in bed and then I get sleepy about halfway through, so it has taken a few days to finish. Plus the fambam was up to visit (minus one broseph) for my sister's basketball tourney and I got some legit funshine time in as well, which leaves me no time for the computer! Speaking of funshine, I am so happy that the weather has finally gotten nice, however, it has also made me realized that I may have to start waking up in the mornings more regularly to get a quality run in.  Yesterday's run after work was hot and I sweat a lot. Plus working out in the mornings will leave my afternoons free for pool time at my apartment.  Now to force myself self out of bed by 5:00 instead of 5:36.  Therein lies the real challenge. Those 36 mins and one extra snooze while my roomie is in the shower are quite a difference.

Along with my runs and other workouts, I am still going strong with Strong Like Susan's Ab Challenge.  (get it, going strong --Strong Like Susan.  I am funny, I know).  Don't let Susan's friendly smile and warm personality fool you.  She rocks your abs and a little full body while she's at it hurts so good.  Now I am not usually one that follows challenges or workout videos, but I must say Susan has provided great workouts and variation to my normal ab rut routine.  So if you are looking for something to mix up your boring gym sesh, Susan is your lady.  Plus she has replied to me on Twitter, so that pretty much makes us besties now.

As much as you guys enjoy hearing about my abbies, let's move on to the good stuff aka my attempt at becoming a pro golfer.  As you are all aware, July is my birthday month -- feel free to email me to get my address, so you can send my present in time ;) ....My parents, being the awesome people they are, let me pick out my birthday present early so I can put it to good use.  Here's a little background info for you: recently, I decided I want to get into golfing more.  I have grown up around it and appreciate the sport, but minus the lessons I took when I was younger and the few trips I make to the driving range every summer I am by no means your next female Bubba Watson yet.  Plus, once I heard my little sister can out drive me there was no way I was letting that last long.  So my dad is letting me borrow a set of his clubs, because every normal family has multiple sets just hanging out collecting dust (no? just mine? okay.) My Dad's motto: sometimes it is not you that is struggling, it is the clubs that are and they need a timeout when that happens. Anyway, back to my gift... my parents let me pick out a new golf bag, balls, tees, etc.  Basically they got me everything I need to look like I know what I am doing out there.  Whether or not I actually do, well that's debatable....

Sunday, my dad, Brad, and I ventured out to the driving range to test out the new (to me) clubs.  Good news: I am just athletic enough and have the right gear that I don't look like a total idiot out there.  I also found out that I have matured in my old age and can take coaching from my father much better than when I was younger and he coach me in sports, so that's a good thing too! Bad news: there is a lot of room for improvement....mainly on the consistency side of things.  My dad had me breaking a sweat before 10am as we did Hank Haney drills to work on not topping the ball.  I am pretty excited to be able to start golfing more regularly.  Now I just have to get good enough to convince my brothers and dad to let me tag along with them :)

My short term goal is to get out on the course after a few more trips to the driving range.  I want to be confident enough that I can get through a round of golf without having the group behind me yelling at me for taking too long, because I am searching for my ball in the rough every other shot.  Let me know if you want to mock join me!

Also, this is what happens when you've had too much sun over the weekend.  Things started to get a little weird at the Schwabauer house Sunday evening as we were grilling:

My sister and I sure are pretty.

Cheers to Golf and Sun and Abbies!

Fondue, Shmondue!

Happy Babble's Birthday Month everyone!

Hope you had a great weekend.  Mine went too quickly, per usual, but boy was I happy to not be traveling for the first time in over a month.  After multiple mini vacas I was ready for a low key weekend and that is exactly what I got.

Kicked off the weekend by spending Saturday at Redtail Golf course where I out-drove the Boy and our friend Tyler at the driving range and then got my exercise on and walked 18 holes with them. Might have hopped a chain link fence for coffee after a rain storm because I was chilly.  Sorry I'm not sorry.  My Tough Mudder training came in handy and my dirty chai was so worth it.

Luckily, the rain did not stop us from enjoying the golf course and grilling out later.  Turkey burgers and corn on the cob were on the menu as we tried to stay awake while watching the Olympic Trials. Who knew golf was so tiring?!  For the record, it is a scientific fact that grilled corn tastes better cut off the cob.  Ask anyone... or don't and just go try it for yourself because I enlightened you.

This morning Brad and I started Day 1 of Strong Like Susan's 30 day ab challenge.  I originally signed up for the challenge on Amanda Brooks' Run To The Finish Blog and am really excited to have another challenge to help keep me motivated and active now that the Tough Mudder is over.  If you're looking for new ab workouts be sure to check out the YouTube page daily and keep yourself accountable by checking in on twitter using the hashtag #abchallenge.

After the quick ab workout Brad took me to get my hair done for an early birthday present (since it's my bday month and all).  Danielle from Angels and Architects Hair Studio  did a lovely job as always and I am excited to get back to being a blondie again.

With the pampering complete I met Brad at Nob Bar and Grill up on 23rd to watch the Championship game of the 2012 Euros, where we watched Spain put on a clinic against Italy.  True story: I still can't decide who's highlights are better, mine or Fernando Torres' long hair, don't care.

Now because I am super nerdy and little things make me happy I want to share with you my favorite  purchase of the weekend.  I have been hearing about a new kind of hair tie that looks like ribbon when you wear them on your wrist and have been quite intrigued for a few weeks now, so when I heard through the blog grapevine that Anthropologie had cute, colorful ones I had to investigate.

Photo courtesy of one of my many tier 1, blog crushes: Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere.

Walking into Anthro I had to make a b-line for the accessories so I wouldn't get yelled at by my bank account and found out they not only had hair ties, but they also had matching headbands as well.  Brad laughed at my expense and got a little taste of how indecisive I can be when it took me a solid 10 mins to decide which colors I wanted. (Had we not parked in 15 min parking, I might have taken even longer, but that is neither here nor there.) I ended up going with the navy set of headbands and the aqua set of hairties.  (shh, don't tell him, but I may go back and get the coral set that I put down at the very last second.  They were just too cute and the color would really pop with the new highlights).

My lovely weekend ended with a gym date and homemade fondue (nom! nom! nom!) with the roomie.  And I may or may not be writing this post and watching the Olympic Trials waiting for it to be darktime so I can go to sleep.  Honest time though: I may be in bed before it even gets dark.  Grandma has her bedtime and summer is making it much harder to sleep when it's still light out at 9:15, but that's what blinds are for, right?!

Cheers to the First of July!
