not a fashion blogger

You know you're not a fashion blogger when the only idea you have for a photo shoot is to lay down on your living room floor and use your iphone. Either that or I am far too lazy - probably a little bit of both.

With that being said, check out this awesome scarf I won from Erin's Giveaway. It is from the cutest little shop called Oakleigh Rose Boutique. First off, it's a scarf and it case you were not aware I wear them every day. No joke. I couldn't tell you the last time I planned an outfit that did not feature a scarf. Second, this is the first item of leopard print I have ever owned and like Erin, I am totally considering it a neutral.
Speaking of neutrals, they are pretty much the only colors I wear any more. I think the last time I wore something other than olive, gray, or black was last summer? Best part about it... not even a little bit sorry for it.

Take this outfit for instance. Black and white, with a splash of gray, just like it should be. Also, I have yet to perfect the perfect roll for these black pants with my booties, it just never looks like I want it too. Where are the J. Crew stylists when I need them!?

Anyway, enough fashion, that is not why you come to my blog on Tuesdays. Tuesdays you come for music or I make you come for music, one of the two. On the playlist today we have this awesome mix from Anthropologie's blog (so you know it's good).

Enjoy!

tuesday tunesday :: fall edition

Guys,

Guess what?! This girl is having some good luck in the blogger world. First I found out I won a free year of Passionfruit from Sarah's giveaway and on top of that I won another giveaway and have some lovely Fifth & Mae goods to start sporting including this necklace below! I NEVER WIN and this makes me happy.

Someone is excited. Nice face, Brooke.
In other news. I had a dream the other day that it was my wedding day and the music wasn't ready and I WAS FREAKING OUT! Stressing, because I couldn't just use Pandora, what if a commercial comes on? Then I tried Spotify, but it wasn't letting me create a playlist and I can't just use the songs I have stared, what if the Goofy Movie Soundtrack starts playing as I walk down the isle....On second thought, that might be the perfect song... Obviously, it's probably safe to say that the music might be more important than what my dress looks like when that big day comes....

Anyway, let's just get to this week's playlist shall we.... wedding talk is making me uncomfortable and sweaty. In case you're wondering this playlist reminds me of fall. As sad as I am to see summer leave, I can definitely feel my music tastes shifting a little bit now that the crisp mornings are starting to come (even though it is supposed to be in the 90s this week here in Portland). I am starting to gravitate towards beats that are a little less in your face and the music is just a little more somber, I guess you could say? Does anyone else change their music around with the seasons or is that just me?

Cheers to Fall Music!

one shining moment

So, I feel lost with March Madness being over already and anyone that says things like, 'thank god, basketball is over, now I can watch baseball' is an idiot and I no longer want to be friends with you.  Sorry, I'm not sorry.

I do have GOOD, more like GREAT, news in regards to March Madness:  My bracket beat Brad's bracket, which means.....I WON THE BET BETWEEN BRADLEY AND I!!!!!!! I don't have to wear clown pants. Thank you Louisville, for not totally busting my bracket! Now, I get to watch all the trashy TV I want and he gets to watch it with me. I don't even like half the programming I intend to watch, but I am going to enjoy the fact that he hates them, so it is definitely a win!!!! Plus, he also has to take me out to dinner... where to go, where to go...

For my win I am thinking a week's worth of shows like this:

::Real Housewives all of them.
::That stupid Myrtle Manor show on TLC about the trailer park people.
::Big Fat Stupid American Gypsy Weddings or whatever the hell it's called.
::Dance Moms, obvs.
::Say Yes To The Dress
If you have any other horrible shows that Brad would hate, send them my way!!!

Also, no March Madness is complete without my favorite part of the big dance... One Shining Moment!!!!

Luther Vandross :: 2013 - One Shining Moment
The ball is tipped....

This type of stuff just gives me chills. Lurve it!

And now back to you regular scheduled Tunesday.... enjoy :)

Cold War Kids :: Miracle Mile
This is their first single off their new album that was just released on April 2nd and I am a big fan.  Cold War Kids just do it right. The lead singer's voice is perfect parts winy and badass at the same time. If that is even possible? I suggest you check the whole album out! My other favorites are the title track Dear Miss Lonelyhearts and also Loner Phase.

Rhye :: Open
This song reminds me of listening to Sade with my parents when I was little.

Vampire Weekend :: Diane Young
When I first heard this song, I was up in the air about my thoughts on it - but I heard it again the other day when I was driving and it was catchy and I have decided I like it. I enjoy when he says, baby, baby, baby. I'm cool, I know.

The 1975 :: Chocolate
This song is just odd.  Is it surf rock? Is that reggae thrown in there? Should tweens be liking this song instead of me? Why is he singing about chocolate? YouTube comments keep going back to the fact that chocolate is code for weed, maybe tweens shouldn't listen then... I don't know what's going on, but I like it.

Lorde :: Royals
These lyrics are spot on:

And we'll never be royals
It don't run in our blood
That kind of love just ain't for us
We crave a different kind of buzz
Let me be your ruler
You can call me Queen B
And baby I'll rule, I'll rule, Ill rule
Let me live that fantasy

That is all she wrote, folks. Happy Tuesday!
