firmoo sunnies

So, question - does the following blog post make me a legitimate blogger?!

One: An awesome glasses company called Firmoo reached out to me and sent me a pair of their sunglasses to try out.
B: They are letting me host a giveaway for a few of you to win a $30 voucher so you can order your own pair of prescription glasses or sunglasses.
Lastly: I basically did my first outfit post to show off the sunglasses. Brad also wanted to make sure I gave him credit for taking all the photos. Did I mention, I am super awkward and I will probably not be doing many other outfit posts on this blog in the future. This stuff is not easy. I don't know what to do with my hands.

Anyway, Firmoo is an online glasses company that provides both prescription glasses and sunglasses at a super, super reasonable price. As someone who has had to wear glasses since 4th grade, I know how expensive buying glasses from an eye doctor can be - so what Firmoo is doing on the regular is quite legit. Firmoo's website is super easy to navigate. They provide stylish options when it comes to frames and all you need to know is your glasses' prescription.

I picked out tortoise colored, Wayfarer frames to get that old school, but always classic Ray Ban look.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Head over to their site and let me know what you think!

Cheers!

 *This is a sponsored post where Firmoo sent me the glasses for review, but the opinions, as always, are my own.

not a fashion blogger

You know you're not a fashion blogger when the only idea you have for a photo shoot is to lay down on your living room floor and use your iphone. Either that or I am far too lazy - probably a little bit of both.

With that being said, check out this awesome scarf I won from Erin's Giveaway. It is from the cutest little shop called Oakleigh Rose Boutique. First off, it's a scarf and it case you were not aware I wear them every day. No joke. I couldn't tell you the last time I planned an outfit that did not feature a scarf. Second, this is the first item of leopard print I have ever owned and like Erin, I am totally considering it a neutral.
Speaking of neutrals, they are pretty much the only colors I wear any more. I think the last time I wore something other than olive, gray, or black was last summer? Best part about it... not even a little bit sorry for it.

Take this outfit for instance. Black and white, with a splash of gray, just like it should be. Also, I have yet to perfect the perfect roll for these black pants with my booties, it just never looks like I want it too. Where are the J. Crew stylists when I need them!?

Anyway, enough fashion, that is not why you come to my blog on Tuesdays. Tuesdays you come for music or I make you come for music, one of the two. On the playlist today we have this awesome mix from Anthropologie's blog (so you know it's good).

Enjoy!

tuesday tunesday :: fall edition

Guys,

Guess what?! This girl is having some good luck in the blogger world. First I found out I won a free year of Passionfruit from Sarah's giveaway and on top of that I won another giveaway and have some lovely Fifth & Mae goods to start sporting including this necklace below! I NEVER WIN and this makes me happy.

Someone is excited. Nice face, Brooke.
In other news. I had a dream the other day that it was my wedding day and the music wasn't ready and I WAS FREAKING OUT! Stressing, because I couldn't just use Pandora, what if a commercial comes on? Then I tried Spotify, but it wasn't letting me create a playlist and I can't just use the songs I have stared, what if the Goofy Movie Soundtrack starts playing as I walk down the isle....On second thought, that might be the perfect song... Obviously, it's probably safe to say that the music might be more important than what my dress looks like when that big day comes....

Anyway, let's just get to this week's playlist shall we.... wedding talk is making me uncomfortable and sweaty. In case you're wondering this playlist reminds me of fall. As sad as I am to see summer leave, I can definitely feel my music tastes shifting a little bit now that the crisp mornings are starting to come (even though it is supposed to be in the 90s this week here in Portland). I am starting to gravitate towards beats that are a little less in your face and the music is just a little more somber, I guess you could say? Does anyone else change their music around with the seasons or is that just me?

Cheers to Fall Music!

Tuesday Tunesday + The Giveaway Winner

First off - We have a winner from my very first giveaway!!!!!!

I used this Random Number Creator to pick the winner. See guys, I don't play favorites!

Which means the lovely, sleep deprived, new mommy (aka Anne) has a Starbucks gift card coming her way :)  Once I actually get around to buying and sending it. Feel free to send me mean text messages if you don't see it by the end of next week, Annie.

Secondly - of course the day I pack lunchtime run clothes it rains, while yesterday was nice and sunny.  Thanks a lot, Oregon.

Even with the rain and cold today, I got excited when I saw hints of spring.

 I spy with my little eye, Spring.

And this is my excited to see cherry blossoms even though it's raining and I am running face.

And now in music news, since it's Tunesday and all: I wanna go to SXSW...one might debate it is the best music and film festival around! Since actually attending the event this year is a no-go, I decided to feature some artists that will be there. Enjoy! Also if you want even more SXSW music, check out this playlist or this list of artists to watch out for.

Wildcat wildcat :: Mr. Quiche
Yeah, he is wearing a cat mask.  Don't ask questions, just enjoy the song.  Maybe dance a bit.

Social Studies :: Terracur
This video is a little weird, but give it a chance, the song is worth it.  Plus, it definitely covers the whole 'strip away everything to start another life' thing.

Dan Croll :: Compliment Your Soul
Feel free to compliment me and my soul daily, Dan Croll.

James Blake :: Retrograde
This is JB's latest single.  It is definitely token James Blake, but it seems like he has grown up a little since his first album, which is not a bad thing. These lyrics are my fave:
I'll wait/
So show me why you're strong/
Ignore everybody else/
We're alone now

Bastille :: Pompeil
This song is quite catchy.  Here is also the Mahogany Session if you're into that acoustic sort of thing. His voice is super lovely.

Kitten :: Cut It Out
The lead singer of this band is young, like 17 young.  That's impressive.

HAIM :: Forever
In case you were wondering: it's pronounced /hm/ to rhyme with "rhyme".  Three sisters help make up the majority of the band.  I don't know if I could work that closely with my sibs, but then again we would make horribly sounding music. None of us can sing....

alt-J :: Tessellate
Who knew that the name alt-J was from the delta symbol that is made when you hit alt and j on your keyboard:  . #nerds the more you know.

ZZ Ward :: Charlie Ain't Home
My fellow Glide, Oregon gal, ZZ Ward, just keeps getting bigger and bigger!

The Lone Bellow :: Tiny Desk Concert
I have blogged about this band a few times, about how they are one of the top bands to watch for 2013 and this TDC shows why!!!!

I could add so many more, but I will stop there. Now just close your eyes and let's pretend we are in Austin together  :) I hear it's sunny there this time of year...

Cheers!

The Happy 10,000 Giveaway!!!

Guys,

Today (well technically yesterday afternoon) is kind of a cool day when it comes to this baby blog of mine.  I have finally hit 10,000 views! Now, in the big wide world of blogging, it's not a ton of 'hits' and I still don't have many followers, but when I started this blog that was not the goal I was trying to accomplish.  More or less, I just wanted a space where I could babble get it, Babbling Brookelyn about whatever I wanted, whether it be fitness, food, music, and occasionally WTF fashion. The majority of my views have probably come from my family and I'm okay with that - they're pretty awesome...But I just wanted to say thanks for stopping by. Without sounding all sappy, it really means a lot that you come check out my blog and hopefully it's because you enjoy what you're reading and not to mock me....Okay, there can be a little mocking as long as it's in good nature, I mock myself most days :)

It is encouraging to know that people are coming back to read my blog, whether it be once every few weeks or daily.  I am hoping this little blog light of mine will keep shining growing and hopefully my writing and my life will grow with it along the way.

Honestly, this blog is helping me.  It has helped forced me be active and do affordable, but fun things with my free time. Brad makes fun of me when I get excited about doing something so I can 'blog' about it later.  It has also helped me get more comfortable with my fancy camera and I am super thankful for that too.  I still have a long way to go when it comes to photography, but it's fun to play with my camera for the blog.  Most importantly, this blog makes me want to get more creative with my meals and workouts and keeps me accountable with my healthy habits, as well the occasionally not so healthy habits love me some fro-yo with chocolate, too! So again, I say thanks!

To show my gratitude I wanted to host my first little give away.  Nothing too cray, I am still ballin' on a budget here people, buttttt I am going to give away a $10.00 gift card to this fine establishment:

 Who doesn't love Starbucks?!

I'll be picking the winner at random. Just leave me a comment by Friday: let me know what you've been enjoying and/or what you'd like to see more of! (If you want to also follow along by joining google reader or bloglovin' up on the right, I wouldn't hate it.)

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers !!!
