treat yo'self friday

In honor of Sarah's Fan Friday figured I would share last night's photos with you. Brad and I went to the Timbers' playoff game last night. They won. Get excited. Get really, double, extra excited because they knocked Seattle out of the playoffs and are into the next round. SEE YA NEVER, SOUNDERS! Sorry, not sorry, Sara (different blogger, same name, confusing, I know). Also, check out these photos from last night. They are pretty legit. Fun fact, their head coach is sexy.

Timbers had just scored when I took this picture. It was also very cold and windy last night in case you were curious.
Also, this sign made my night. Maybe even my week. I mean... does a play on words get any better than that?! Plus it featured the Dempsey Derp face, you know the one.

Gawd, I laugh just thinking about it. Classic.

Lastly, in honor of it being Friday and my little Sister's birthday. I treated myself to a pumkpin-y treat. That's how other people's birthdays work right? You get gifts for yo'self, not for them? Nailed it!

And now.... listen to this cover of The Knife's Heartbeats by Ellie Goulding for #backthatazzup Friday with Whitney. It will make your heart happy.

Cheers to Friday!

labor day shennannies

Oh man,

Happy Tuesday or for me this is my Thursday already since I leave for a wedding in Chicago on the real Thursday! Definitely not complaining to only have two days of work after coming off a great Labor Day filled with lots of shenanigans. Sami would be proud.

Celebrations even started a little early, because our friend Cory had extra tickets to the Hillsboro Hops game last Thursday annnnnd they had a free buffet, sign me up.

The rest of the weekend consisted of family time, cards, eating, swimming, more eating, working out, hiking, and did I mention eating?!

The weather was perfect all weekend, which made for great hiking. Hit up my favorite spot on the North Umpqua River.
Oh and here is a sneak peak of my sister's senior photos! Anne did a fantastic job and I can't wait to see the rest!!!!

Hey hottie, stop looking so beautiful... Actually, it's really crazy to see my sister all dolled up, she never wears makeup, but I think she should. She is so pritay, like model or cheerleeda.

Cheers!

when did i get so old?

Guys,

I am officially old, the baby sister is getting her senior pictures taken this weekend by one of my real life besties, Anne. I have talked about my sis on the blog before and she only reads my blog when posts involve her, she is selfish like that. I am still in denial that this is her senior year of high school. She better not go to college too far away. I think I will miss her too much....Have I mentioned I am having a really hard time coming to terms with her growing up?

When did she decide it was ok to become a teenager?

When did she start driving?

When did she get to be a senior?

When did she get to be cooler than me?

When did she start being funnier than me?

WHEN DID I GET SO OLD?!

Half the time I feel like her second mom (the cooler one of course) even if she never listens to all my good advice.

Basically, what I am saying is, stop growing up, sister. I don't like it.

***Update, as of this morning my sister is officially cleared to play basketball again after her torn ACL!!!! Cheers all around!***

Love,

Your, cool, wise, smart, funny, pretty, older sister :)

Happy Birthday, Ceester!

My sister informed me that she only reads my blog when the entire post is dedicated to her, so hopefully this post will not anger my awesome Aunt Sue who shares the same birthday, especially since her's came first. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AUNT SUE!!!! Excited for your party this weekend!

Anyway, back to my sister.  It's her birthday today.  She is the bebe of the family, but is turning 17, which makes me feel reallllllllly old.  Now as much as I love both of my brothers dearly, there is just something about a ceester-ceester bond.  (I am sure they would tell you the same thing when it came to being brothers? Probably not, but let's pretend for sake of argument.)  I am super fortunate to have a close family that enjoys spending time together and have also benefited from the fact that my little sister lives with my Grandparents (15 mins away from my apartment) during the school year, so I get to see her A LOT! ( Sorry sister, I'm not going anywhere, you're stuck with me)  I know my parents miss her tons, but I definitely enjoy the perks of her being in the big city with me.

Even though we are 7 years apart we are super close and I hope that I have been good role model for her or something equally as cheesy.... But no really, I love her and I hope she has a wonderful birthday!!!!! Although it wont be complete until she sees me this evening - ultimate birthday present = seeing this beautiful face >>

We're so pritay

She may be 17, but she still dominates on the playground.

She obvs gets her good looks from me and not our parents.

Lastly, I got you this birthday song:

Happy birthday, favorite only sister!

<3 Your favorite Ceester!

Bummer News

So the little sister found out some bummer news last week.  Turns out she tore her ACL and has to have surgery on it tomorrow (think good thoughts!)...  And for those of you who don't know her, my sister is kind of a baller so it is quite the bummer.

Brittany is a Junior this year at West Linn High School and has been their starting point guard since her freshie year.  They took 5th last year at State and she was more than a stud in the game (she is number 3 in the highlight video) where they upset the number 1 ranked Oregon City.

Get it Gurl.

She is a trooper though and is ready to put in the rehab work.  As much of a bummer as the situation is, I am so, so proud of her for how she has handled it all.  Lord knows I would be wreck right now if I was in her spot, she is way stronger than I am.  She knows what she has to do in order to get back and her doctors and coaches have been nothing short of supportive.  The doc told her she gets surgery day off, but day two rehab starts.  I let her know I would be more than happy to be her PT (she kindly turned down my offer though).  Instead I guess I will just have to keep her lots of company and maybe be a nice sister and bring her Starbucks :)

I want to be like my little sister when I grow up

My sister is cooler than your sister

All of my sister's stuff has made me realize how fortunate I was to have never had a season or career ending injury during all my years of competition. Over 7 years of basketball, 9 years of volleyball, and 10 years of track, I only had one off season surgery for torn ligaments in my wrist, so all in all I was a lucky duck, especially when bad knees run in my family.  Both my dad and my little brother have had ACL surgeries too.   Now, since I am not getting any younger, I realize that I need to be extra careful when I workout and do crazy athletic events like Tough Mudder

So think super-extra-good thoughts for my sister over the next few months, you wont see her out on the court, but you will still see her leading the team from the bench and rehabbing along the way.  Fingers crossed she is jogging by Christmas :)

Cheers to Recovery!
