Hitting the Links.

Happy Friday!!!!  We have made it through another week.  Today, I am thankful for these articles:

Hating cilantro is a real thing.

This place might be what Heaven looks like in Bradley's eyes.

Just an article that shows the advantages of saving $2.75 a day. #NBD.

As you may know, the last Twilight movie comes out today.  Here senior citizens hate review the trailer.

This poor gentleman is afraid of horseies.

What if Adele was Mrs. Doubtfire?

Since Thanksgiving is next week, I got you this.

Leaving you with this. Sometimes the internet is a wonderful place.  This is one of those times.  #mashup.

Enjoy your weekend! I'll be cheering on the Ducks tomorrow at Autzen!

Cheers to the weekend!

Happy, happy Friday!   Mine is extra special, because my parents are coming up for the weekend :)  To honor the special occasion here are some links...

Ellen would be proud of this guy.

Might have changed my work computer background to this.

Speaking of Ellen, I love her.

Not sure if you are all aware, but they are doing a spin off of Boy Meets World. (GET EXCITED!).  So with that being said, I bring you the 13 Most Important life lessons from Mr. Feeny.

I want to be this little girl when I grow up.

Since it's not always fun and games, here is an education piece on the Fiscal Cliff.

Because I know you're really curious about my coffee habits.  I bought a new flavor.  Kind of digging it.

This pretty much sums up the joys of living with your main-squeeze.

Now thanks to my boss-man I am going to enjoy some FREEEEEE Jimmy John's! Be jelly.

Cheers to the weekend!

Weekend Recap :: Seattle Style

So, on a last minute decision I spent this past weekend in Seattle having a mini reunion with my old roommates from college and it was just what the doctor ordered.  Not that I saw a doctor or anything to make the decision (unless you count my old roomie Kelley, she is currently finishing up her last year of school for Physical Therapy), but you get the idea....

Besties!!!!!!!

We ate lots of yummy food - made by the talented Chef Neil.  Back story: Neil is Bestie Brittany's boyfriend and I was his Sous Chef in Alaska for a few summers).

We wandered around the oh-so-cute Queen Anne neighborhood (Brad even got me to run 5 sets of hills in the neighborhood, which isn't saying a whole lot because they're everywhereeeee, but still, the hill we picked was steep and I ran it 5 times, so go me?).

And most importantly - we played this game A LOT.  Super fun, super addicting. Definitely buying my own set of cards tonight.

Here are a few pics I snapped when we were checking out the neighborhood.

This bakery was lovely.  I tried their citrus and oat scone. yum, yum, yum.

Brown Sugar Crumbles, yes please.

Then we walked around Queen Anne before it started raining.

As usual, I played pretend and tried to find my future home.

This one looks nice.

The view was fantastic.

There was fall everywhere.

I don't want Fall to ever leave me.

No really, it was everywhere.

We even found a slide on the way back to Brittany's place.

 Slide time, is fun time

Brad was a big fan.

I'm dating a child.

All in all it was a great weekend and I am so happy that I got to see the girls.  Anytime we get together it's just like we are back living on 21st and Chemeketa at WU.

We're so pretty?

Cheers to besties!

Weekend Recap

First order of business: everyone needs to wish one of my favorite brothers, Braden, a HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY :) The not so little brother turns the big 2.0. today.  I am getting so old.

Yesterday, we celebrated October birthdays in the fambam (there were 4 to celebrate between cousins uncles, and the bromontana).  Food was yummy, per usual, and the family was entertaining. I always love a low key weekend with family, especially when my mom gets to come and visit.  Missed my dad and the other brother, but it was still good to spend time with my mommy.  She and my crip (not the gang kind) sister even got to venture out of my grandparents' rehab facility to have dinner at my apartment.

Other than that, not too much to say about this weekend and honestly I am quite alright with that.  Since it was rainy there are no crazy adventures to share (unless you call watching a man jump from space crazy?)  Ok, that was actually pretty awesome. Did anyone else watch the Red Bull Stratos jump? that ish cray.

Essentially: after flying to an altitude of 128,100 feet in a helium-filled balloon, this good looking guy named Felix Baumgartner had a record breaking freefall jump from space.

I'd jump from space with you.

It was pretty entertaining to watch, however, it was a little nerve-racking as well.  I mean how horrible would it have been to watch something go wrong?  Good news: it was a successful mission aka no blood splatter for the Criminal Minds or CSI teams to have to come investigate.

OH AND THE BEST PART OF THE WEEKEND:  I attempted to curl my hair and it lasted for a whole 4 hours! I think that might be a record. Curls never want to stay in my hair and go flat pretty quickly.  Which translates to me being pretty lazy with my hair.  If it is going to take me over 10 mins to do my hair and not even last an entire day, what's the point?  But on Sunday I decided to give my dirty hair a chance and curl the ish out of it. (I have heard unwashed hair curls better? The lazy, hipster side of me might have made that part up.)

This is how I always feel while curling my hair, because I know it is going to be a lost cause.

This was the end result that lasted from 9:30 to about 1:00ish.
#winning?
#longhairdontcare

Does anyone have tips on how to make curls stay longer?  I have been debating buying a curling wand, but maybe I just need more hairspray?  When it doubt, always use more hairspray?

Cheers to the weekend!

Hitting the Links and a Concert Recap.

Happy, happy Friday !

::So Christopher Walken read lines from Here Comes Honey BooBoo.  That is all.

::Who were the winners and losers from last night's Vice Presidential debate?

::Who doesn't love a daily compliment? Especially when they are odd? - Thanks for sharing Virginia :)

::A friend from high school - ZZ Ward - is starting to kill it in the music scene.  Check out one of her latest singles and go pre-order her new album.  She is also on tour right now, find out if she is coming to your city and then go!

::Guys, this bacon shortage is a serious thing.  Here are Ron Swanson's tips on how to survive it.

::Ellen makes her employee talk to people only in song, again.

::Lastly, take the time to read this.  You won't regret it.  My favorite old roomie Kelley sent this to me and it it might be the funniest thing you will ever read when it comes to Decorative Gourds.

Now.... ON TO THE GOOD STUFF!

MACKLEMORE and RYAN LEWIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The OLD Cool Kids stood in the back.

Highlights:

::Probs one of my favorite concerts I have attended and that is saying something, because I have a concert problem.

::The vibe and energy was super positive, upbeat and just plain awesome.

::The crowd was so into the show. We had the whole Crystal Ballroom bouncing.  such a cool feeling. literally bouncing up and down.  thought the floor might collapse.

::Being the first stop on his North American tour for his new album The Heist. I love getting to see live acts when they are just starting their tours.  That means they are still fresh and pumped to be on the road and not tired and wore out from the end of a long tour.

::This Song:

The crowd went crazy and it was super legit live. Plus who doesn't love watching white people dance to music? It turns into a lot of jumping and a lot of raised hands in the air. Essentially this:

Not actually the show I was at, but it gives you a good idea of how into it their crowds get.

::Not having to wait for my mom and dad to pick me up after the show. Seriously, don't teens and tweens have curfews on school nights? SO. MANY. CHILDREN. Made me feel old. Or maybe it was the fact that he didn't come out on stage until 9:45 so the show didn't even start until after my bedtime.  Who's to say? I am the one with the curfew.

Cheers to the weekend!

Highlight Reel

Just a few highlights form the past few days!

First off - I think I have a problem... a concert problem.  Last week I went out not once, but twice on a work night for concerts.  As you all know, I saw Citizen Cope last Sunday and then on Thursday night I got to celebrate the birth of my dear friend Erica by seeing the oh-so-lovely Ron Pope.

But before we had Ron Pope sing to our sweet souls we had to feed our starving bellies.  We tried a place called Yakuza Lounge in North East Portland that my friend Jessi had recommended.  Like always I was too intimidated to take photos with the big camera, but the sushi was super yummy and the ambiance was lovely. The only small complaint we had was the service was a little slow, but if you're not in a hurry then it's not really an issue.

Next, we hit up Salt & Straw on Alberta.  Wow is their Cinnamon and Snicker Doodle ice cream amazing.  I paired it with their Coffee and Buron and they complimented each other perfectly.

The concert itself was everything I had hoped for.  Small venue (that had seating, my grandma back was thankful!), intimate show, great music and we even got to chit-chat with Mr. Pope for a second after the show. I was a HAPPY GIRL!

Ron Pope, you're perfect for me

The rest of the weekend I played nurse to my little sister and hung out with my family.  She now has a brand new ACL and started rehabbing the day after surgery.  The doc said she could have surgery day off, but after that it is time to put in work and I am super impressed with how much she is doing so quickly. as Nike says #makeitcount.

Someone got caught napping in between exercise sets

 Big 'ol brace

 It's so long, #twss

We colored in the super awesome Sesame Street coloring book I picked up, played with Legos, and had the longest game of Jenga ever.  (you know, pretty much things any 5 year old boy might enjoy).

 Cops and robbers anyone?

Didn't even need directions. Haha that's a joke.

Who doesn't love Jenga?

I am choosing not to say who won

Annnnnd my favorite highlight of the weekend was finally getting my new glasses that I had ordered.  Ever since I was little I have always loved picking out new glasses and then I get super impatient when I have to wait for them to be ordered.  I ended up with a cute pair of nerdy glasses (oxymoron?).  I had my eye on a pair of Tom Ford frames, but they were a lot more expensive and looked a lot like the ones I ended up with, so all in all I was happy with the Roxy ones I ended up with.  Look at my being fiscally responsible.

nerd alert

Cheers to another weekend without rain!

Hitting the Links

Because it's almost Halloween, I figured I would share this gem that my old roomie, Brittany sent me this morning.  I have seen this many times, but it is always funny.  Oh Ellen...

I am not a big fan of politics, but I know they are very important.  That is why I feel like everyone should watch this very informative video.  and by that I mean Jimmy Kimmel mocking the debates with children.

I don't want to admit the number of times I have watched this Les Miserables trailer...but wow it is good.  I can't wait for the movie to come out.  I am not even an Anne Hath fan, but this looks beautiful and tragic all at the same time.

Last night I went to the Ron Pope concert for my good friend Erica's birthday.  She was rocking these boots hard and now I might go buy them this afternoon.  Hope she doesn't mind if I copy her.

Who doesn't love a compilation of Mama June gifs?!

Lastly, if you're not following @puppypalace on instagram, you're doing it wrong.

Cheers to the weekend.

Everyone wish my little sister good luck today, she is having her ACL surgery.

Timbers and Pizza!

Brad and I had tickets to the Portland Timbers vs DC United game this weekend, which was a pretty big deal for Brad since he used to work for DCU before he moved out to Oregon.  The game was an evening game so we had a chance to get food before we headed to the stadium.

A few weeks ago I had picked up a Groupon for the pizza joint / bar called Mellow Mushroom.

I had been hearing really good things about the place and it did not disappoint. We tried a few beers with their paddle option and ordered the Funky Q Chicken.  Evidently, the first location was out on the East Coast and its dough was made with spring water from Vermont, so now all of the restaurants get the special water shipped in from the same spring for the dough, which is pretty cool and the dough is uh-mazing!

We walked off our dinner and headed up to the stadium which was only a few blocks away.

 #RCTID

Brad was torn on what outfit to wear, because he is a girl in the army you are supposed to be a Timbers Supporter, they even email you and tell you not to wear opposing team apparel. However, DCU holds a very special place in his heart since he worked for their front office.  He eventually decided on a not too flashy DCU shirt with a Timbers scarf.

The National Anthem is always my favorite at the Timbers games. It literally gives me chills every time. I am a sucker for a good Anthem, it takes me back to my athletic days and I always get a little bit of butterflies as if I am the one about to complete.  The Portland crowd sings with the performer and at the end of this game everyone threw streamers, it looked awesome.

DCU went up 1-0 with a questionable handball call and the oh so attractive Chris Pontius scored off the penalty kick.  Luckily, the Timbers came back to tie the game up and it ended in a 1-1 tie.

The above smoke makes it hard to breathe, so we pretended to be bandits for a bit.

All in all, I am secretly glad they tied, DCU left with a point, Timbers are still not out of the playoff running, and then Brad didn't have to choose a winner or a loser side.  Plus I got to watch DCU's coach Ben Olsen in action and he is my favsies.  Gotta love a well dressed coach, especially when I think he and Brad kind of look like they could be related.

We are on the waiting list to get season tickets for next year, cross your fingers we are high enough on it to get a pair and maybe I will take you to a game with me if you're lucky !

Cheers to Soccer hotties!

First Day of Autumn - Hood River Style

Saturday Bradley and I decided to celebrate the first day of autumn by trekking up to Hood River.  So after a nice gym sesh we hit the road.

Our first stop was Multnomah Falls.

Which was super pretty.

But short lived, because I think all of Portland decided to stop there.  I don't get along very well with crowded places, so we stayed long enough to snap a few photos and then hit the road again.

When we got to Hood River we headed straight to the river to check out all of the wind and kite surfers.

It was like a little city of surfers.

Brad took this photo and he would like his credit, so I suppose I should give it to him.

The weather was lovely, but super windy, which was perfect for the surfers not so perfect for my hair.

He wanted you all to know that he took this one too.

It was awesome to see the kites and boards up close.

Plus they looked like dinosaurs.

And who doesn't love that?!

Action Shot.

Might have almost fell over when trying to take that photo.  I blame the wind.

Papa. Papa. Paparazzi.

After our afternoon outside, we were quite hungry so we headed over to Full Sail Brewery.

The beer was yummy.

Brad played model for me all day.  Isn't he such a good boyfriend?!

 Look at those pearly whites!

My bubbles!

I tried the seasonal LTD 06 and it was great.  It had hints of coffee which I am a big fan of.

Gotta love a dark beer and scarf weather!

After dinner we headed downtown to wander around.  We stopped for ice cream at the cutest shop.  Kahlua Chip, wowza!

My favorite part of the entire trip might have been this purchase.
These large matches are awesome,
plus they were on sales.  Double Score!!

Brad kept trying to give out free advice, but no one wanted it from him.  I think he scared the children more than anything.

If you're ever in HR, you should probs check out Mike's Ice Cream. It's precious and the ice cream is delish too.

All in all, it was a great start to Fall and I can't wait to enjoy the rest of it before the rain sets in...  What did everyone else do to celebrate the beginning of the best season of the year?!

Cheers to Autumn!
