For today's Sh*t Men Say link up I don't want to throw Bradley under the bus here and say that he is a slob... but let's just say that his version of clean and my standards are very, very different.
Let's back track a tiny bit. I grew up in a small house. Six people. Three bedrooms. One bathroom. Not much room for stuff and as a family of 6 we had a lot of stuff. That also meant we did not have enough room for said stuff most of the time. We were by no means hoarders - but small space, lots of stuff made me loathe clutter.
In my world there should be a place to put everything. A closet, a shelf, a drawer, etc. This is where Bradley and I tend to differ.... Bradley views our kitchen counter as the space to drop everything when he comes home. He also feels the same way about our living room floor, his side of the bedroom, the dining room table, etc..
The other day I was giving him a hard time about not putting his things away and he had the audacity to tell me that he was not dirty, but that I was just too clean.
Excuse
Me?
Too Clean?! I was not amused. I was so annoyed. I think I even threw whatever I had in my hand at the time at him... which let's be honest it was probably some of his crap I was picking up. Too Clean?! There is no such thing. In fact, if I had more time on my hands I would clean even more, because a clean home is a happy home.
Maybe I should have been a house maid in my previous life?Cheers to being clean!

men and women have different definitions of clean for a lot of things, including the bathroom which irritates me the most!!

hahahaha too clean?! no such thing. that's awesome.
That is such a man thing!! My guy tells me to relax constantly when I'm trying to clean. No such thing as TOO Clean!
Chris thinks the kitchen counters are made for dropping all the random things too!!! WTF?!
There is no such thing as too clean. Or too organized. Doesn't exist!
Too clean? haha hes funny.
I fully support your "too clean" habit. I deal with stress by scrubbing my shower and organizing drawers. Too clean? Psh..
i agree men have weird ideas of what clean is. andrew gets mad if i leave some dishes in the kitchen sink, but then will leave his hair all over the bathroom sink when he shaves. it's weird.
My boyfriend saves EVERYTHING! It is seriously so annoying...he's one of those people that hoards papers and yoyos and lighters and whatever. I am sentimental but I'd rather have a photo album filled with happy memories than random clutter everywhere...eek!
My boyfriend always dumps all his stuff in the kitchen too. Right on the table. So annoying.
Wanna come clean up my clutter? That'd be great thank you!
Ugh it's got to be a man thing, Tyson thinks taking his clothes off in the living room after work every night and leaving them on the floor is good. So annoying!
Boys totally don't get it and it's annoying. My husband is the same way, i'm too clean to him, but I just like things put away!
Haha! Too clean...I wish I had this problem :)
Hahaha- definitely a man thing! Luckily my guy doesn't make too much of a mess at my place, but I wanted to clean ALLTHETHINGS when I first visited his apartment!
Bradley and I have a lot in common. HOWEVER, I wish I could be more like you. I live in a perpetual state of clutter and chaos and it drives me mad, but I cannot stop it.
I like how this part starts out at "I don't want to throw Brad under the bus..." and then you go and COMPLETELY THROW BRAD UNDER THE BUS! Interesting tactics.
Baahahaha... and THIS is why I insist on cleaning the apartment rather than letting Pete do any of it.
I wish I could relate to this even a tiny bit... but I'm 100% a Bradley in this situation. Not even growing up in a full house could persuade me to drop my shoes anywhere but in the middle of the room or leave TEN water cups in my room (I literally counted 10 the other night. Who do I think I am?)
Girl that is the story of my life. I actually felt your rage for you because I feel it on a daily basis. What is it with men that they just drop shit and move on? Probably because they know us little cleaning fairies come behind them and pick it up because it drives us nuts. I actually started to hide a few things and then when he can't find it I'm like "must be in one of your piles" ;-)
Oh god, I can't even explain in how many ways you just described my husband to a T. If I put a basket on the counter to organize "stuff" and declutter, it's filled in 2 days and overflowing onto the rest of the counter anyway. Socks? Every day, on the living room floor after work. Jacket? Back of chair at kitchen table. Every. Single. Day. (Even though the coat closet is closer to the door!! His side of the bedroom floor - coated in clothing and hats and belts. Got him a nice watch box for fathers day? Watches all over the house in the most obscure places. Not even normal. #MEN!!!
I need you to come be "too clean" at my house. Also, I very unattractively crackled at that last gif.
im ocd when it comes to a clean house so i think i would mutilate that boy.
OHMYGOSH. James and I just had a rip-roarer about this over the weekend. He claims I'm wasting my life away because I'd like to make the bed ("that will just get messed up again"), do the laundry ("it's faster if you wait until everything is dirty and do it all at once, Sarah"), and be totally okay with piles inside drawers and closets but not OUT in the floor / a chair / the countertop. I JUST WANT NICE THINGS. IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK??
hahaha--I got lucky, BOTH Angel and I are neat freaks, so we don't bug each other. I know that's rare!
I don't think there is such thing as being too clean...
Ugh, Sam is the SAME way and it drives me nuts. Let's send them both to therapy.
This is EXACTLY what is going on in my house. And the more shelves and drawers I get the more "important" papers and things there are somehow that HAVE to stay on the kitchen counter or all over the dining room table. It's insanely frustrating. My side of the bedroom is neat and tidy, his side is just a mountain of clothing falling out of the closet and various laundry baskets. (we have sides because there are 2 closets) Anyway, long story short, I feel ya.

ah hahahah MFD has told me both that I'm too clean and that my standards for house keeping are TOO HIGH.
My husband is a total slob. Like one of those "I never push drawers closed" kind of guys. But he cooks...so I pick my battles :)
ALL guys are like this (I think). Andrew made a comment similar to that, except his was, "You're too OCD. Relax. The place is clean."
Too OCD? The place is a mess!
Guys are pigs.
A clean home is a happy home = truth. I mean is there any better feeling than coming home to a clean house at the end of the day??!
too clean?? ok try this if you possibly can stand it, dont clean for a week and then see what he says ;-)
there really is no such thing as too clean. i sometimes wish i had married someone like danny tanner. now he was a guy i could relate to. and why do guys leave crap laying out like that? limited surface area means put that shit away. stat.
Too clean?! Umm, no! Hahaha men and women aren't on the same page about a lot of things. At my house we really don't agree on when we need to vacuum. (*cough* daily! we have two big ass dogs)
I don't think it's a men vs women thing (see Mr. Tanner from Full House- I've also been in a few dudes' environments whose spaces were immaculate), but has a lot more to do with the environment you grew up in. I'm a bit cluttered, but in a comfortable to me way. I had a roommate last year who left her crap all over the bathroom (which had minimal counter-space), and the bathroom is one of my neat areas (that and he kitchen). But I've got clean laundry on my bedroom floor, random junk I don't wanna deal with on my credenza, and my desk is a bit of a mess. I live. Also, I've seen my BIL get into fights with my sister because she won't clean up after him and the clutter gets to him (this one pisses me off- he's a grown-ass man and can clean his own stuff- someone's mom did wrong by her son).
I wish I was too clean. I also wish I had a maid so I didn't have to clean.
MRS. FEATHERBOTTOM! One of my favorites!
I am working on my cleanliness. And not buying things unless I have room for them. Some of us just aren't programmed as well as you so tell Bradley I feel his pain!
CLEAN IS GOOD. The end. Men just say sh*t like that because they don't have the energy or decency to clean, too ;)
lol Mine says his place is "clean but not neat" which only works if there isn't a pile of dirt underneath his stuff.
I wish I was too clean...love the Tobias gif :)
yeah, I'm like b*rad on this note, hahaha #sorrynotsorry
