So is anyone else afraid to have their eyebrows waxed?! No?! Just me? Ok. Cool. My fear of someone waxing me probably all stems from my control issues, but that is a post for another day....I just always picture the worst happening. My eyebrows not matching up, having an entire eye brow waxed off. What if they never grew back and I have to get them tattooed on!? The horror. You know really serious, traumatic stuff here!
So, when Urban Waxx of Portland got a hold of me to offer a complimentary eyebrow wax, I was slightly hesitant, but also super pumped at the idea. I have a lot of dark eyebrows and it takes some time and some industrial type tweezers to get them tamed. Otherwise I look like this:
After checking out their website and yelp reviews, I decided to take them up on their offer. I mean they claim to offer the best wax you'll ever have, had to give them a chance, amiright?!
From their website:At Urban Waxx, we are committed to making your time with us extraordinary. Our motto is "The best wax you'll ever have. Seriously." That is a statement that continues to drive Urban Waxx forward every single day.
Urban Waxx is more than just your typical salon: it's a culture. We love what we do, and it shows. We are a group of super talented, highly trained gals that have 2 things in common: we love to wax and we love to give an over the top customer service experience.
Urban Waxx has 3 locations in the Portland area. I went for the one in the Alphabet District since it was closest to my house. They also offer many different wax options, but I stuck with just a brow wax. I am new to the world of waxing, figured I should stick with simple. I scheduled an appointment via their online booking, which is extra convenient, because God forbid I have to actually use my phone and call someone ;)
The shop was cute and all the staff was super inviting and friendly...which they need to be if they think I am going to let them rip hair off my body! They even offer wine, but I had a workout to get to after the appointment, stupid choice on my part, I know.
The gal, Alix, that did my brows was awesome and she did a great job. And get this, she does Roller Derby, if that's not kick ass, I don't know what is! Plus, it probably took her a total of 10 mins max. Efficiency, a thing which I am all about. Girl knew what she was doing too, so it didn't even hurt! Winning!
Look at those sexy eyebrows.
Anyway, if you're looking for a great place to get your brows (or any other part of your body) waxed hit up Urban Waxx and tell them Brooke Smith sent you!
Cheers to sexy eyebrows,
<3 BB
** Disclaimer: I was offered a complimentary brow wax with the possibility of review from Urban Waxx. No other compensation was made. All opinions are definitely honest and my own.

Urban Waxx, one x for each eyebrow!
looking sexayyyyy
LOVE! I have been looking for a good place to get my eyebrows done. I used to love it... but, have grown super lazy in my old age and occasionally tweeze. Don't look too close at my eyebrows... EVER! Great review.
niceee girl. I can't get my brows waxed.. I did once and my whole forhead was red for 9 hours. not exaggerating
I have a home eybrow waxing kit that I have used exactly once. I hated it. I still had a lot of plucking to do. But dem brows look good guuhh!
I love the first picture about bad brows. So true. Now I feel like I need to schedule a wax... :)
You look great! Your eyebrows are fantastic!
clearly that basketball guy didn't have a girlfriend to tell him get rid of the unibrow. even my husband will say to me now i need you to pluck my eyebrows and yes i have him trained well ;-) how cool you got to get a free waxing, i like when businesses contact me to review stuff for me
oh haiiii sexy brows! they do look good. and now i wish someone would let me get my eyebrows waxed!
I've been wanting to do roller derby for the longest. It looks so brutal but fun at the same time. And the brows looks fabulous. I recently had a botched eyebrow experience and I'm still dealing with them. I'm glad you had a good experience!
Please tell me the first comment is your boyfriend. Im dying. Brows look fab!
Is that a compliment or a diss that you got offered a free brow wax? ;) Can I send my Daniel, too?
Haha, this made me laugh. I first had my eyebrows waxed at age 13 and it changed my life. I think THAT was the moment I felt like a woman. Now I'm a plucker because I'm kind of OCD about picking at my eyebrows when the hairs come back in. I do think, however, that eyebrows are the least painful thing to wax. Most painful: armpits.
Ooooh, yeah, totally scared of having my eyebrows waxed! But I totally need to get over that. But just the eyebrows! Everything else will have to remain my territory, only. Eeeek.
I used to have a salon that I LOVED going to for my brows back in the day, but I got sick of going all the way across town. I just pluck mine now, but I miss the days of getting them done by a professional!!
Ps. Yours look SO GOOD!
Ooh, free eyebrow wax, awesome!!!! I've had mine done a few times but am lazy and normally just tweeze them myself. Yours look beautiful!
one time i had my eyebrows waxed before a halloween party and i had an allergic reaction and my face exploded and i had to get a steroid shot in my ass for it to go down.
so... i just tweeze now. :)
haha, this post is perfect timing... I saw waxX the other day. Two days ago I totally screwed up my eye brows using my personal gigi wax pot... and then it spilled over the entire bathroom floor. Such a disaster. All I kept thinking of was Waxx in portland and if I wasn't such a cheap sake I wouldn't of been scraping the mess up from the bathroom floor ;)
I used to have Anne Hathaway brows...oh, the days. Thankfully I grew up. :)
Looks good girl!
Don't be afraid....you get used to the pain after awhile. But I only get waxed where a lot of people don't see!
