moving

Oh my lanta (ps. Brad says I have recently started saying this a lot, but I don't see it stopping any time soon, so he can get used to it.) we get the keys to the new condo we are renting tomorrow!!!!! Hello 2 bedrooms!!!

Guess who hasn't even thought about packing to move yet?! This girl. We do have the U-Haul reserved for Saturday though, so we're slowly making progress. The goal is to be all moved by this Tuesday, because Brad's parents are coming in from Indiana to visit for the week.  It will be their first trip out to visit Brad since he moved to Oregon, so I am excited for them to see what his life is like out here on the Best Coast.

But back to the whole packing thing, Brad is trying to tell me we don't need boxes you're joking right?!. I think Brad is a liar might not realize how much extra stuff we have that we can't just throw into Nike athletic bags.  Sorry I don't want all the plates to break, what was I thinking suggesting we find or buy boxes?! I'll let you know who wins this argument conversation.

Also, we bought a foam mattress topper from Kohl's a few weeks ago to have when his parents visit. Went to test it out this past weekend and what was inside the packaging was definitely not a Queen sized topper. It was twin at best. That meant I had to go back to Kohl's (which by the way, I have realized I am not good at that store) yesterday to exchange it. Anyway, we get there and the lady working was not having a very good day. The phones kept ringing and she was super rude, not to us specifically, but you could just tell this woman hated her job and didn't care if her customers caught on.

Can I just tell you that this is one of my biggest pet peeves. You don't have to like your job, but shit, fake it while you're working with a customer. At one point when she was helping me, she told me she was going to cut the phone cord so it would just stop ringing....uhhh ok, why are you telling me this? She was also just super short and didn't really explain to me how she wanted to proceed annnnd when I finally got enough information out of her, she made ME go to the back of the store to find a new topper.  Not to make it sound like I am complaining about first world problems because I totally am, but shouldn't someone that works there be assisting me? No? Ok. Cool, I'll go search the store in hopes you still have them.

The thing is, I get it, I have worked customer service jobs, sometimes they can suck, but don't make the people you're helping feel uncomfortable and here is another tip, lady, it's ok to smile once in a while. ugggggh.

Anyway, I am done ranting now. Wish me luck with this whole moving stuff.

moving BLOWS. the packing i don't mind but the unpacking? WORST. unpacking means organizing and i can't organize for shit. take a look at my closet - i've been meaning to organize since we moved in here. we moved 6yrs ago.

You got this! ps. Wrapping dishes in blankets and towels and clothes is a great way to conserve space and kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Not that I support the killing of birds, but... you get the idea.

Moving is hard. I like to shove as much stuff as possible in huge Ikea bags to make them nearly un-carryable. But you're right, it won't work for plates.

Allow me to clear my good name that you always take so much joy in slandering.I did not say we didn't need boxes, but rather that we shouldn't pay for boxes. Can't have the entire blogosphere thinking I'm the stupid, irrational one between us. :) Carry on...

This post made me laugh... mostly at the stupidity of the lady working at Kohls. But GOOD LUCK with moving and all since you can't have boxes...

I suggest drinking lots of wine or pumpkin beer while you pack. Good luck!

Packing and unpacking are the absolute worst, but having a new great condo will so be worth it! Go see if your favorite grocery store and liquor stores have any old boxes they'll give you, mine always have a bunch they're happy to give away. Then you have boxes and you didn't have to pay for them.
