So you might remember that for Christmas Brad got me tickets to see Amos Lee. What he didn't realize is that I had gotten him tickets for the same concert and was going to give to him on his birthday in January. Safe to say we both have great taste in music, are great gift givers, and are definitely both selfish gift givers. For the record, my seats were better! Anyway the concert was on Sunday night and it was perfection.
Now, I know I go to a lot of concerts and I often have positive things to say about them, but trust me...If you get the chance to see Amos Lee live - never pass it up, ever. He puts on such a fantastic show. With his mix of folk, blues, gospel and baby makin' music it's hard not to be in awe. I mean, the guy even covered Frank Ocean's song Thinkin' Bout You. The man can do no wrong in my eyes.
Also, I don't know what it is with us, but we have had some weirdos next to us the past few shows we have gone to. This concert was no different. We had a couple next to us - had to be in their mid 50s, but were trying to pretend they were in their mid 20s still. Anyway, the lady was on a mission to get backstage and the boyfriend was letting everyone around us know. To the point he said he was even going to give the sound guy 400 doll hairs to get her backstage. Brad and I were in the outer seats and they each got up at least 10 times before Amos Lee came on. Whether it was to try and track some sound guy down, go to the bathroom AGAIN, or get another drink. The best worst part was every time the boyfriend would get up, he would have to hop over the lady, but he would always take an extra minute to straddle her and make out with her before he actually left. I, of course, had the pleasure of sitting right next to them. I almost felt like I was part of the make out sesh each time it happened. Brad and I, along with the people all around us, couldn't help but laugh at the struggle street that took place.
Anyway, since I am still on a concert high, I figured we should listen to Amos Lee for Tuesday Tunesday. I also posted a few songs by the opening act Black Prairie. They are from Portland, super folksy, and they feature three of the band mates from The Decemberists. Can't go wrong there!
Enjoy.

Oh, Amos. So dreamy... :)
"he would always take an extra minute to straddle her and make out with her" Gross.
Hahaha "for the record, my seats were better." Ummm speaking of weirdos at concerts...Kory and I got front row at Alan Jackson last year and this one lady next to us got to touch him when he was sticking his hand out to touch fans. I'm not joking you, after he touched her hand she put the whole thing in her mouth and started licking it. Anyways, I'm glad you enjoyed the concert!
That sounds like the most awkward make-out session.. Ew, hahahah
such selfless gift givers, I'm happy you had a great time - AND that you had yesterday off from work!
hmm never heard of Amos. regardless, I think this shows that you two are a match made in questionably selfish gift giving heaven. ;)
great minds think alike.
i've never taken the time to listen to mr. amos, but i'll give him a try since you said so.
you two are the perfect gift givers! :) I'd love to see him one day!
Probably would have fought that couple, that sounds absurd!
Girlfriend, I totally feel for you about those people you sat next to... My husband and I joke that whenever you get the public together in a small place (concerts, amusement parks, etc) you get to see the people of the world, ha!
I love that you guys bought tickets for each other! How funny :D I've never head of Amos Lee.. I'll definitely have to check out some of their songs!
amos lee <3
you seriously have some bad concert neighbor luck.
Amos Lee is incredible!
haha people watching as it's finest. Actually, it sounds like you were so close you might have been more of a participant! I love Amos Lee, so jealous! I would love to see him live.
you should write a book about the people you sit next to at concerts.
I'd buy it.
That's awesome that you guys got each other the same present! :-) I certainly hope you used your seats, though, if they were better... Although maybe the people nearby the other seats weren't as awkward... ;-)
Bahaha... I was totally going to ask if you encountered any weirdos this time around - creepy makeout groupy couple for the win!
Haha why do the creepy PDA people like flock to you at concerts?!
well this is awesome. so glad y'all have fun, despite the wannabes next to you. i fear that might be me one day.
I know I talked about being THAT couple, but we're def not like those weirdos. That's just obnoxious. I hope they didnt smell.
I love Amos Lee! I always sit next to the weirdos too, it is sad, but makes for some interesting stories at least!! Glad you got to see Amos though!

people are morons! i don't see how making out in public is in any way shape or form, cool. it's actually gross!

Don't hurt me, but this is the first I've ever heard of Amos Lee. I fail? But seriously LOVE the music! :)
omgosh!!!! SO JEALOUS. Glad you had fun.
omgosh!!!! SO JEALOUS. Glad you had fun.
You and your concerts - awesome!
Sorry you had to be part of an unwarranted makeout sesh tho....Um, ew?
I love that man, so so much! This concert was my first time seeing him live and I was in awe of how amazing he is! Such a great evening! While I'm not jealous of your neighbors (ours were far less entertaining) I am VERY jealous of your location in the theater! We had nice seats, but couldn't really see his beautiful features well. His voice though, like always, was like butter :)
Checking out Black Prairie now! LOVE The Decemberists, so you're right, how can you go wrong?
Cheers,
Alyson
