shake it off

Oh helllllllllllllllooooo,

Fancy seeing you here, especially since I hardly come around these parts anymore. Summer, you're rough on the blog. Be more gentle would you? Anyway, here are some things going on in my life the past week and a half.

//The gym is officially open as of yesterday. It was a mad house. Over 2,200 members came on the first day and they are expecting even more today. Here we gooooo. On Saturdays I even get to teach an Adventure Racing Conditioning class. How cool does that sound? So far I love the gym and I love the people I work with. Plus, the facilities are beautiful. Now I just need clients who will want to train with me!

//Highlight of my weekend was two fold - for the few hours I wasn't working at the gym I got to spend time with not only my college roommates, but also a special blog friend of mine came to visit Jessi and I. I think after this weekend we have convinced her to officially move to Portland. Our plan is working. Soon Jessi and I will take over the blog world. I have been blog crushing hard on Mackensie for a hot while now and I am so happy she finally came to visit. Now if we can just find her a job here in Portland, her and her puppy will be good to go.

ps. can you spy the creeper in the background of this picture?

//Today I had a Naked Green Smoothie after my morning workout and I didn't realize it had garlic in it. It is kind of weirding me out. Not a lot of garlic, but definitely enough to notice and it's too much for me before 8am, I think... I don't know why I just felt the need to tell you that, but I am currently trying to finish the drink and it's throwing me off.

//This little league coach almost made me cry, in a good way.

Lastly, I hate myself for liking this song as much as I do. I am a TSwift hater for the most part, but I can't quit this song.

Who am I? Where has my good taste in music gone? I must be sleep deprived....

Cheers!!

Turnt Up or Learnt Up

As my alarm was going off this morning and I was waking up to start my day, Brad rolls over - thoroughly confused - and questions why I would be up before 6am....Bradley, honey, it's Monday, not Sunday. So yeah, happy Monday everyone! Let's link up with Katie Que and share what we learned, shall we?!

imyourkatieque

//Did anyone else know that a camel with two humps is named a Dromedary ? Because I didn't, but naturally Brad did and gave me a hard time when I didn't know what he was talking about. I'm sorry? ----UPDATE: So, apparently Dromedary camels are the ones with only one hump, Bactrains have two humps. Brad was wrong, but also still kind of right because he even knew the word Dromedary.

//Friday workouts at the office make me feel less guilty about eating my body weight in sushi for dinner.

//Spilling your entire glass of water on the floor, your feet, your purse, and your crotch while out to dinner is cold and a embarrassing. It will also take your jeans a long time to dry after you have spilled said water.

//I have not forgotten any of the worlds to the movie GreaseYou better shape up... Cause I need a mannnnn.

//Went to an actual Yoga class with other people on Sunday morning. Yoga is still hard.

//Cleaning on a Sunday weirdly makes me happy.

//Vacuuming your stairs is a cardio and ab workout.

//Wine with dinner on a Sunday evening was pretty much is the highlight of my weekend.

//My new coffee mug is the tits. I probably should not use the words tits to describe things on my blog. Too late.

//Timbers' games in the sun are much more enjoyable than in the rain.

//Scratch that - these shoes I got as a just because gift were the highlight of my weekend.

I miss the weekend already!

Danced to the sun gods

So I decided to dance to the Sun Gods after ANOTHER cold and rainy track meet on Saturday. I know I live in Portland. I know I have grown up in Oregon all my life. I know I am supposed to embrace the rain and I do, most of the time - but I am just tired of it now. I am ready for funshine and warmer weather and not having to pack my rain jacket whenever I leave the house.

Good news is the Sun Gods listened to me and they are saying it will be a lovely 73 degrees at some point today. Granted it will probably rain tomorrow. But. Whatever - I am living it up today and even wore a skirt. Sorry not sorry to those I blind with my white legs today.

In other news, I turned down cookies not once, but twice this weekend. Give me a gold star, damnit. This whole cutting out processed sugar and the icky carbies has not been nearly as hard as I thought it would be. Granted I am cheating a tiny bit and still having green fruit smoothies in the morning, but eh, playas gone play.

Here is the only photo I took all weekend - post rain and mud at the track meet. Hashtag over it.

Let's not be Sun Shy any more, Portland. Kthanks, Bye.

Things I learned this weekend

Ok, so here's the deal, guys, Katie, from I'm You Katie Que, does one of my favorite type of weekend recaps and I wanted to steal her idea. So without further adieu - here are a few things I learned this weekend.

//Oregon weather has a harder time making up its mind than I do. At the meet on Saturday, we had rain, rain, more rain, lots of wind, and sun all in the same 15 min span. Mostly it was rain and wind though.

//3 courses of Fondue will make you full.

//Sugar gives me a head ache

//Urban Fondue is delicious

//So is melted cheese.

//Cheese hurts my stomach.

//My clean eating was anything but during our fondue time for Portland Dining Month at Urban Fondue.

//The soundtrack to Divergent is legit.

//Movies just don't get everything from the books. I mean Divergent tried and I really like the movie - but it just couldn't come close to my love for the book (which I finished over the weekend, so I could go see the move.)

//The name Tobias will forever remind me of never nudes.

//I would like to see Tobias from Divergent in a pair of never nudes.

//I love clean sheet night.

//I hate doing laundry

Happy Monday!

another year, another bowl-a-thon

Another year - another Bowl-a-Thon with my family. At least this time Brad couldn't make it and didn't embarrass me with wear his Candy Striped Hoosier pants like last year. In other news, I am still not very good at bowling. It doesn't help my sore elbow flares up after about a round of it. I blame javelin. Also, if I look extremely tired in these photos, it's because I had to wake up at 6:30am on my only day off to drive Brad down to the start of the Portland Shamrock run. And the answer is no, I was not a good girlfriend who stayed and watched him cross the finish line after his 15k. I had bowling to attend #priorities.

I should really bowl more than once a year. There was a group of old people next to us just straight killing it. Upper 200s each game they bowled. Who does that?! Oh to be retired and have free time....

Cheers to bowling!

all of the house of cards

It's official, my weekends will be slim to none from here until the end of May, because there are Saturday meets. Had the first track meet of the season on Saturday. It was cold and rainy, but went really well. I pretty much looked like this the entire meet.

It also meant I got to treat myself to a sammie and a cookie from Great Harvest Bread Company on my way home form the meet. Man I miss them. yum!

Other than that my weekend was quiet.  I hung out with Jessi for wine and paleo tacos night after the meet and Sunday consisted of a LOT of House of Cards watching.  To the point I only left my house once on Sunday afternoon to go to the gym in between episodes. I watched some of the Oscars, but then went back to House of Cards after Kevin Spacey did his best Frank Underwood voice. AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH PHOTOBOMED U2! I HATE BONO AND I LOVE BENEDICT. So this made me the happiest girl in all the land. Also, I attempted to hang some elementary school level paintings I made last weekend.  Also number 2, I don't know how to make things level. I need to fix that far one, bad.

So yeah, welcome rainy Monday. I am not glad you're here.

Cheers!

Highlights and lowlights

Who wants to discuss the high and low lights from my weekend?! Too bad if you said no, we are doing it anyway suckas

Highlights

//Yesterday, I was successfulish in attempting an art project for something above our bed that has been bare for over 2 years. More on that later this week.

//Ate my bodyweight in Sauerkraut and Brats with my family at the local Sauerkraut Feed put on by my Grandpa's Lions Club.

//Danced the chicken dance.

//Even got my little cousin (and by little, I mean, the kid is a freshman in high school and already 6'3) to dance the polka in front of old people with me.

//Went on a longish run on Saturday and didn't die. It was also sunny, even if it was cold.

//Bought 2 boxes of Girl Scout cookies.

Lowlights

//Tried to stop by Petco to look at puppies and the Petco didn't even have any puppies to look at. WTF.

//I didn't have enough cash on me for a box of Thin Mints.

//Ate way too many said Girl Scout cookies.

//It is official, I cannot, for the life of me, dance. When I said danced the polka earlier, what I really meant was hop around in a circle.

//I got really, irrationally upset over the fact that I am zero percent crafty.

//It took me 3 attempts to paint a triangle. A TRIANGLE. So elementary, Watson.

//Brad and I have been having an argument for a long while now about whether lemons or limes are superior. I say lemons hands down, but then he took it to a vote on Facebook and evidently people are idiots, because the majority of them voted for Limes...Then again who even uses Facebook anymore? What a loser. The only people that comment on those kind of polls shouldn't be trusted. Unless it is my Aunt LeAnn, because she voted for Lemons and I love her, but then she also voted for Limes too (very politically correct of her) / I can't say anything rude about her. The rest of you Lime lovers can all eat it.

And that concludes my weekend, friends.

salt water cures everything

You know the quote about salt water curing everything? If not, I have made this cute little thing to show it to you.

Ocean Breathes Salty by Modest Mouse on Grooveshark

Anyway, I have decided that quote really is the truth. In my world there is nothing a good workout, a good cry, or a good trip to the ocean can't fix. Not that I really had anything to 'fix' this past weekend, but I just felt like a trip to the beach was something I needed to put me in a good place and I think it was a success. The weather was fabulous for February at the Oregon coast (mid 40s and a bit of sunshine), my DSLR was actually charged for a change, and I had good company.

Cheers to a happy Monday,

blogger date

So does it make me a real blogger if I not only met up with a fellow blogger, but she came to visit from a different state? Does this mean we are going steady now? Kailyn came to visit on Friday and Portland was extra nice and didn't even rain for her. Although, I think she was secretly a little bummed she couldn't wear her new Hunter Boots. I don't blame her.

Anyway, we did typical touristy things, including nom on some Voodoo Doughnuts and Lardo.  Hit up Pittock Mansion which had fabulous views of Mount Hood and Mount St. Helens. Saturday we trekked up to Hood River. The Gorge was beautiful as usual, as was Multnomah Falls, and  we even played in over 100 mile per hour winds at Vista House. That wind was no joke. You should have seen Bradley chasing down my sun glasses and Kailyn's beanie in the parking lot.

Moral of the story, I am a great host, so you should probably book your ticket to visit me.

Cheers!

stormy weekend

The weather was CRAP this weekend and I mean crap. We are talking windy advisories, rain, rain, rain, and more rain. So I mostly did a lot of nothing. There was studying for my Personal Training test, there was coffee, there was movie and wine night Friday. Which side note, saw the movie A Place Between The Pines with my boys Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper. It was good, but it was weird.

There was also Saturday night where we went out and celebrated both Brad's birthday and my college roommate's birthday! We went to a place in the Pearl District of Portland called Tilt. This may or may not be the place where they also serve this burgerSo good. I might of had bacon tater tots? The blog may never know.
The weather was gross that night too, but we braved the rain and ate a lot to keep ourselves warm. Seemed liked good logic at the time. So yeah, other than that I have come to the conclusion I am old, because I stayed up far too late on Saturday and my body is still tired and mad at me Monday morning. I need a nap and it's not even 9am.

Cheers!

christmas is all around me

I feel it in my fingers. I feel it in my toes. Oh man! Oh man! Christmas is all around me. Holiday Cheer is in the air people. It's official. You know what else is official, my excitement level for said Holiday Cheer.

The tree is decked. The presents are purchased and mostly wrapped. I am attempting to stay away from too many holiday treats.

And now this week's installment of things I learned this weekend.

1) Your tree will start to die if you don't cut off the bottom and give it some new life.

2) Fun ornaments from friends are cuter than cheap target balls.

3) Glitter makes everything better during arts and crafts time.

4) Holiday parties are more fun with a photo booth.

5) DMC from Run DMC is jacked for how old he is.

6) It takes a lot of work to actually do your hair and makeup.

7) It takes even extra work to paint your nails....but if you do paint them, make sure it's with gold glitter

8) When you lose your DSLR's battery charger, you can't upload any of the actual photos you took of your cute Christmas tree.

Cheers!
