On A Scale of Rocking Leggings With Uggs

How Basic were you this weekend? Let's a take a quiz and find out.....

//Did you make your way to a pumpkin patch?

//Did you drink a pumpkin spiced latte on the way to said patch?

//Did you have a caramel apple at the pumpkin patch?

//Did you wear a combination of fall scarf and Hunter rain boots?

//Did you take way too long picking out the perfect pumpkin?

//Do you plan on spray painting that pumpkin, instead of carving it?

If you answered yes to at least 3 of these, you're about as basic as a white girl drinking a venti PSL while rocking a top knot. If you said yes to all - consider yourself as Basic as Babbling Brookelyn. Congrats to the winners!

Cheers to the best season ever!

i'm a survivor

Oh Thursday,

Let's pick it up quickly please. Here is how my morning has gone so far. I am house sitting with my sister for a few days and the family has smoothie fixings and a magic bullet! Score... Until I realized that the magic bullet has nothing on my Ninja blender at home.Evidently the bullet could not handle my fruit to liquid mixture. It was a struggle making a smoothie this morning. The end result was more large chunks of frozen fruit with some splashes of liquid. Whatever.

It has also been raining for the millionth day in a row here in Portland, so I decided to wear my rain boots. Note to all, Hunters don't have much traction. Second note to all: Hunter boots + rain + slick paint lines in a parking lot = an almost epic fail.
By the grace of the sweet lord baby jeeezus I somehow managed to catch myself from falling and spilling my smoothie everywhere. Bad news, I think I might have almost strained my groin in the process. It is really sore now. We shall see how my workout goes tonight....

Thankfully I am a survivor and I am going to make it through this day....Let's hope.

Cheers to not spilling my smoothie everywhere!

punkin patch

A few weeks ago I went to the pumpkin patch to pick out the pumpkins that I made pretty the other day. We decided to go to the Roloff Farm, you know the family farm from the TV Show Little People, Big World. The farm itself is really cute and also really busy. The only downfall is I am still on a hunt for Apple Cider Doughnuts, because this farm didn't have them. I WANT IT NOW!!!!!! Said in my best Veruca Salt. Anyway, I was lazy and finally did a photo dump from my camera and remembered I had these photos. I know it's late, but here is the thing, I don't care. The fall pictures make me happy, so deal with it and enjoy them like I do.

Cheers to Fall. I don't want it to ever leave me.

weekend shweekend

So it's officially Fall...and obviously I had to buy my first pumpkin spice latte of the season, because well, I am a blogger and a white girl that loves yoga pants and all things 'fall'.

Although, Oregon decided to skip Autumn and go straight to the dead of winter evidently. We have had wind, rain, rain, wind, and more rain. Which really I didn't complain that much about because I spent most of my weekend on the couch being sickie. I did venture out of the house a few times and it is a good thing I just happened to buy these Hunter boots on sale at Nordstrom rack earlier in the week so I could get my puddle stomp on if need be.

On sale for 49 dollars, how could I not buy?!!! .... What I probably could should have stayed away from were these beauties that were also on sale.

Hear me out though.  Both boots total were 100 dollars less than the original price of the Fryes. It had to be done. And, even more so, I have been lusting after these Melissa Button Fryes for what feels like a decade. Ask Brad, I send him the link every week telling him I need them in my life. They are investment and now I will quit wasting my money on cheaper boots I am unhappy with.

Anyway, enough about boots. Here is the rest of my weekend in photos. Attempted to go to the Timbers game, probably a horrible idea for my cold, had a huge coughing attack when the Timbers scored and I tried to cheer for them.

But hey, at least my braid looked cute?
Last, but not least, I got to be a model in a photo shoot this weekend. I will share more details later when the photos are done, but let's just say, I wore a lot of red lipstick and I NEVER wear lipstick.

Linked up with Sami for Shenanigans , per usual.

Cheers!

fall so hard

Not sure why I am sharing this embarrassing story, but oh well here goes... Enjoy the visual. Laugh it up on my account!

Yesterday, while I was at the track coaching, I tripped and ate it, hard ... I wasn't paying attention (that never happens) and caught my foot on a little metal rail thing (super descriptive, Brooke) that lines the infield and the actual track. It of course happened in front of all my athletes and this wasn't one of those trips where you can kind of catch yourself and not actually fall.  This was the kind of trip where you try to run it off and keep yourself up, but I couldn't and fell on my hands and knees, left a bit of track burn on my knee and bum and everyone gasped and then laughed. It was embarrassing.

Nice job, Coach Brooke, Your athletes really want to get advice from a girl that can't even stay on her own two feet.  In my defense though, the stupid railing is dumb and it shouldn't be there! Mature, I know.

This fall then lead me to think about how clumsy I am all the time sometimes.

I am that girl who:
::always has bruises from running into table edges
::always has bruises from.... shoot, how did that bruise get there again?!
::drops weights on her shins and feet
::falls while doing box jumps (this still has not fully healed and there is a nice scar forming, by the way)
::misjudges where doorways and entryways are, so I run into walls
::constantly has scrapes, cuts, and burns on my hands

For being fairly athletic, I am sure a struggle street.

Anyone else have this problem?!

To make myself feel better about my life, I had some comfort food when I got home.  I had Annie's Mac and Cheese for dinner. Obviously, not the healthiest choice I could have gone with, but hot daumn was it delish. I was tired and it has been in our cupboard for a few months now calling my name. I couldn't not eat it.

Yes, I am wrapped up in my blankie. It was almost bedtime (8:27pm), don't judge me.

Luckily, for me and my beach body needs, Brad was there to share the cheesy goodness with me or I would have eaten the entire box.  Not that I know I can eat an entire box or anything.  I have never done that before I tell myself that Annie's is better for me than Kraft. I mean, it has to be right?! The color of the powdery substance is more natural cheese color and less cheetos orange, that alone has to be healthier. I also paired mine with an avocado and we might have added a little bit of additional cheese and some chicken to the mac as well. Gotta get swoll. Protein on protein on protein.

So yeah, that's my Embarrassing Story Wednesday for you. Hope you had a good laugh! You're welcome.

Cheers,

Confession.

For as much as I love holidays, I have a confession to make....

I have zero Halloween decorations up.  I blame the boy.

Ok, that's probably not fair, but oh well I am blaming him anyway.  Here is the deal - when I lived with Kyndra she had a bunch of awesome fall / Halloween decorations, so I didn't have to worry about it.  Now that I live with the boy, I have to train him to love Holiday Cheer as much as I do.... Which means I may have to make a special shopping trip this weekend (like I need an excuse to shop)! Nothing tacky, just a few cute things here and there. Get a few fall candles, maybe glitter a pumpkin.

Also, that reminds me. I must put in a maintenance request so we can get our front door light fixed.  I want the kiddos to feel welcome on Halloween night! (I have a lot of candy and I don't want to be forced to eat it all because no one shows up).  That's a lie, I don't want to share.  Thanks for reminding me, guys.

In an attempt to make up for the fact that I have been lacking in the decorations department I have been cooking very fall-like this week, if that counts?!

Tuesday we made this crock pot dish.

Simple and delish.

Then last night we made this honey-apple pork crock pot lovely.

Apples: yum. Honey: yum. Pork: yum.

And for dessert we made Trader Joe's Pumpkin Bread with the addition of chocolate chips. My friend Tyler told me that was the secret ingredient that took it to the next level and I never turn down chocolate goodness. - plus now we have extra chocolate chips lying around the apartment and I love a handful here and there :)

The website says it's Kosher Certified, so you know it's good.

Cheeeeeers to Candy and Pumpkins and Apples and Honey and Halloween!

First Day of Autumn - Hood River Style

Saturday Bradley and I decided to celebrate the first day of autumn by trekking up to Hood River.  So after a nice gym sesh we hit the road.

Our first stop was Multnomah Falls.

Which was super pretty.

But short lived, because I think all of Portland decided to stop there.  I don't get along very well with crowded places, so we stayed long enough to snap a few photos and then hit the road again.

When we got to Hood River we headed straight to the river to check out all of the wind and kite surfers.

It was like a little city of surfers.

Brad took this photo and he would like his credit, so I suppose I should give it to him.

The weather was lovely, but super windy, which was perfect for the surfers not so perfect for my hair.

He wanted you all to know that he took this one too.

It was awesome to see the kites and boards up close.

Plus they looked like dinosaurs.

And who doesn't love that?!

Action Shot.

Might have almost fell over when trying to take that photo.  I blame the wind.

Papa. Papa. Paparazzi.

After our afternoon outside, we were quite hungry so we headed over to Full Sail Brewery

The beer was yummy.

Brad played model for me all day.  Isn't he such a good boyfriend?!

 Look at those pearly whites!

My bubbles!

I tried the seasonal LTD 06 and it was great.  It had hints of coffee which I am a big fan of.

Gotta love a dark beer and scarf weather!

After dinner we headed downtown to wander around.  We stopped for ice cream at the cutest shop.  Kahlua Chip, wowza!

My favorite part of the entire trip might have been this purchase.
These large matches are awesome,
plus they were on sales.  Double Score!!

Brad kept trying to give out free advice, but no one wanted it from him.  I think he scared the children more than anything.

If you're ever in HR, you should probs check out Mike's Ice Cream. It's precious and the ice cream is delish too.

All in all, it was a great start to Fall and I can't wait to enjoy the rest of it before the rain sets in...  What did everyone else do to celebrate the beginning of the best season of the year?!

Cheers to Autumn!

HItting The Links !

So tomorrow is officially the first day of autumn and in honor of its arrival, I wore my fall boots for the first time this season and got my self a Soy Pumpkin Spiced Latte.  It was yummy.  I try to limit my starbucks intake (for both my wallet and pants size sake) to once during the week and once on the weekend.  Then it's more of a treat :)

Yes, to answer your question, the headband means I did not wash my hair when I showered this morning, and no, I don't feel bad about it.  #dirtyhairdontcare

Bradley and I are thinking about hitting up Hood River... maybe even pick a few apples this weekend, as long as the gloom goes away.  You know, fall things! What fall things does everyone else have planned?!

Annnnyway, here are a few links to get your through you Friday afternoon.

Fact: Sitting makes you fat and kills you.   *As I sit here and write this post

Anytime I read the Wall Street Journal I automatically feel 7 times smarter.  Here in this article they discuss how food cravings activate the same reward circuits in the brain as cravings for drugs or alcohol do (their words not mine).... which I find to be quite fascinating.

The iPhone5 promo they didn't want you to see.

Sh*t Girls Say is probably one of my all time favorite things on the internet and they just came out with a 4th one! Gosh they just make me laugh, probs because I say most of the references myself.

In honor of Mumford & Son's new record coming out in three days I leave you with the Big Easy Express Trailer!

We all know about my love for this song, now here is an article on the subversive message of Gangnam Style! Also, fun fact, Brad just told me this is the most liked song ever on YouTube!!!! Double awesome.

Cheers to Fall!
