happy wednesday?

Happy Wednesday... for those of you that don't have to work this Friday (hey, that's me! I don't have to work this Friday). Sorry to those of you who do; hope your Tuesday goes by quickly... Although I am not sorry enough to give up my day off for you. I am nice, but not that nice.

Anyway, Spring is hopping here in Portland and I wanted to share a few things that are making me happy because of it.

//It was warm enough to wear shorts for my workout on Sunday... I quickly remembered that shorts are the worst, but that is neither here nor there.

//Saw these flowers at the grocery store the other day. I was going to buy some for myself, but then didn't cool story, Brooke. So I took a picture instead.

//Guys, iced coffee season has arrived. HEYO. I haven't been letting myself buy coffee now that I have a Keurig, but sometimes you just need to treat yo self with some iced coffee now and again.

//Might as well call me Bubba Watson, because I am going to win the Masters next year after a few more buckets of balls at the driving range.

//Lastly, I wanted to share this playlist that has been making me extra happy these days. The whole thing is pretty legit (if I do say so myself), but if nothing else, check out the song I See Fire remix by Kygo. It's the truth.

Cheers to a short week!

Things Are Looking Up Thursday

Evidently my new thing is to start naming my days, you might have noticed this in yesterday's post).  Things Are Looking Up Thursday is today's name and here is why:

::Today is my Friday. (Heyo, Good Friday!)

::I am listening to Van Morrison Pandora and it is rocking my wold.

::I bought myself a coffee on the way to work.

::I get to play open gym volleyball for the first time in a while, because the track kids are on Spring Break and I don't have to drive to Salem. (My gas tank is also happy about that.)

::I think my spin class last night might have made my legs less sore - is that even possible?! I am still having issues with my hip flexors and my knee has been sore, but it is definitely all my fault. I wasn't proactive about stretching and now I am playing catch up, while still doing workouts that probably aren't helping.  Win some, lose some.  I have been doing more of this though:

drop down and get your eagle roll on, gurl.

and bought these:

Can't tell if it is the placebo affect or not, but I think they may be helping a little.

::March Madness starts up again this evening.

::Spring is everywhere:

blossoms on blossoms on blossoms

::I am attending the Portland Spring Beer and Wine Fest tomorrow AND Saturday.  (I even signed up for a 5k Saturday morning to get free entry and drink tokens) The beer is great, the ciders are spot on, and the cheese. Don't even get me started about the cheese, smoked gouda in my mouth, please.

::I get to spend Sunday with my entire family for Easter.  Creamed Eggs are the family tradition every year.  YUM!

::Here is the real winner though - (Now, I don't want to jinx it) buttttttt it is supposed to be in the 70s this weekend. Yes.Please.

Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.  Which I do, I use the term shabby quite often like right now for instance.

Cheers to Things Are Looking Up Thursday!

Tuesday Tunesday + The Giveaway Winner

First off - We have a winner from my very first giveaway!!!!!!

I used this Random Number Creator to pick the winner. See guys, I don't play favorites!

Which means the lovely, sleep deprived, new mommy (aka Anne) has a Starbucks gift card coming her way :)  Once I actually get around to buying and sending it. Feel free to send me mean text messages if you don't see it by the end of next week, Annie.

Secondly - of course the day I pack lunchtime run clothes it rains, while yesterday was nice and sunny.  Thanks a lot, Oregon.

Even with the rain and cold today, I got excited when I saw hints of spring.

 I spy with my little eye, Spring.

And this is my excited to see cherry blossoms even though it's raining and I am running face.

And now in music news, since it's Tunesday and all: I wanna go to SXSW...one might debate it is the best music and film festival around! Since actually attending the event this year is a no-go, I decided to feature some artists that will be there. Enjoy! Also if you want even more SXSW music, check out this playlist or this list of artists to watch out for.

Wildcat wildcat :: Mr. Quiche
Yeah, he is wearing a cat mask.  Don't ask questions, just enjoy the song.  Maybe dance a bit.

Social Studies :: Terracur
This video is a little weird, but give it a chance, the song is worth it.  Plus, it definitely covers the whole 'strip away everything to start another life' thing.

Dan Croll :: Compliment Your Soul
Feel free to compliment me and my soul daily, Dan Croll.

James Blake :: Retrograde
This is JB's latest single.  It is definitely token James Blake, but it seems like he has grown up a little since his first album, which is not a bad thing. These lyrics are my fave:
I'll wait/
So show me why you're strong/
Ignore everybody else/
We're alone now

Bastille :: Pompeil
This song is quite catchy.  Here is also the Mahogany Session if you're into that acoustic sort of thing. His voice is super lovely.

Kitten :: Cut It Out
The lead singer of this band is young, like 17 young.  That's impressive.

HAIM :: Forever
In case you were wondering: it's pronounced /haɪm/ to rhyme with "rhyme".  Three sisters help make up the majority of the band.  I don't know if I could work that closely with my sibs, but then again we would make horribly sounding music. None of us can sing....

alt-J :: Tessellate
Who knew that the name alt-J was from the delta symbol that is made when you hit alt and j on your keyboard: ∆ . #nerds the more you know.

ZZ Ward :: Charlie Ain't Home
My fellow Glide, Oregon gal, ZZ Ward, just keeps getting bigger and bigger!

The Lone Bellow :: Tiny Desk Concert
I have blogged about this band a few times, about how they are one of the top bands to watch for 2013 and this TDC shows why!!!!

I could add so many more, but I will stop there. Now just close your eyes and let's pretend we are in Austin together  :) I hear it's sunny there this time of year...

Cheers!
